The Opportunity
The Alternatives team covers a broad spectrum of active investing activity through a stable of external managers, primarily focusing on hedge fund strategies. The Analyst, Alternatives role will carry responsibility for assisting in the monitoring of investment managers, as well as assisting in deep research on aspects of the investing process and landscape.
We're looking for someone who is able to demonstrate curiosity and an ability to actively engage in deep research efforts. Some knowledge of the industry and experience in alternatives investing is preferred. The role will require the ability to communicate insights gained from monitoring activities to the internal team, and to collaborate across teams within the Agency.

About You
We're looking for someone who is a dedicated individual with demonstrated knowledge of a diverse set of investment strategies in the hedge fund space. Someone who thrives in a team-based environment where collaboration and robust discussion are encouraged and thoughtfully considers the impact on others. A big-picture thinker with an intellectually curious mindset and the ability to synthesise and explain complex concepts to non-experts.
You should have well-developed quantitative skills, including the ability to code effectively in R, Python (desirable, but not essential), and/or excellent spreadsheet skills. While not essential, but if you have a degree in economics or finance it will be an advantage, as well postgraduate studies, a CFA or an actuarial qualification.
