Java Software Engineer - Data Team

WHAT YOU’LL DO AS A JAVA SOFTWARE ENGINEER

The Data team comprises software and system engineers, and is responsible for a multi-petabyte in-house data platform that drives a huge range of trader analysis, simulation, reporting and insights. The team operates and develops pipelines to collect and store a wide variety of data published from trading systems, alongside query engines and access APIs to use it, using a mixture of open-source and custom implementations as needed.

You’ll write reliable, high-performance software while balancing time to production with quality and testability. Advanced automated testing and daily deployments will allow you to achieve agile and incremental benefits.

Within a complex landscape of varying systems and technologies, you’ll be constantly challenged to consider trade-offs between latency, throughput, simplicity, scalability and maintainability.

Who You Are:

• A seasoned developer experienced with Java and comfortable with other languages
• Used to optimising your application for resource usage and throughput, including heap and thread analysis, and use of suitable metrics
• Able to understand the behaviour of a complex system of interacting parts
• Familiar with Kafka, Avro and Parquet
