What you'll be doing

The position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of property accounting for the Charter Hall portfolio of retail assets including financial controlling, budgeting, forecasting and all associated reporting.

The position will work with key stakeholders to ensure management reporting supports operational decision making and ensure adherence with internal controls, policies and procedures in the management of Charter Hall retail properties.

Key responsibilities are :
  • Overall responsibility for integrity and delivery of accounting results and management reporting for all retail properties and marketing funds.
  • Manage the working relationship between the property accounting team and centre management team to ensure comprehensive business partnering.
  • Manage the annual property outgoings and marketing fund audit process.
  • Project manage the delivery of all property budgeting and forecasting activities and related reporting.
  • Manage the annual property outgoings estimates and marketing fund budget process.
  • Manage and develop a team of finance professionals.
  • Coordinate the financial aspects of property capital transaction including financial support during due diligence process, settlement adjustment calculation, settlement statement preparation, onboarding/ offboarding properties to/ from ERP system, and post settlement clearance.
  • Manage the working relationship between the property accounting team and centre management team to ensure comprehensive business partnering.
  • Manage the working relationship with IT to ensure data integrity and implement process improvement in key ERP systems.
  • Challenge status quo, identify business improvement opportunities and drive changes.
  • Ensure adherence to Charter Hall's obligations under relevant legislation including various Real Estate Licensing requirements

  • Fully understand the BAU tasks carried out by the team - deliverable timeline, stakeholder expectations, detailed procedures and any key risks associated
  • Recognise each team member's key strength, development areas and career development plan
  • Built sound business partnership with key stakeholders - Head of Finance, Head of Portfolio Management, Head of Property Management, Regional Managers, National Operation Manager, National Marketing Operation Manager, Fund Managers

  • Influence decisions for strong financial outcomes
  • Prioritisation of competing tasks and delivery of results
  • Service delivery and ensuring compliance with internal controls in a fast-pace environment
  • Ability to analyse data and critically appraise responses with a holistic view
  • Finding the fine balance of fostering positive team environment and encouraging healthy competition within the team

Technical & Experience:
  • Qualified accountant with minimum 5 years post-qualified experience
  • Proven track record of leading and managing a team of financial professionals
  • Proven track record of project managing the delivery of financial deliverables
  • High system proficiency - exposure to various systems and large dataset
