About the role: In this role you will be responsible for undertaking and monitoring NAB processes and controls to ensure NAB is able to operate in a compliant manner and demonstrate compliance with the requirements of international and domestic privacy regulations.
In this role you will be required to keep abreast of upcoming privacy reforms in Australia and ensure NAB is prepared to meet any new privacy obligations. At NAB, this role will be titled as Associate Director Privacy.
Key Accountabilities: - Guide business stakeholders on the application of privacy-by-design initiatives
- Undertake Privacy Impact Assessments of projects and business processes
- Promote the NAB culture of privacy compliance through interaction and involvement in key business initiatives
- Consult with NAB legal team where appropriate to confirm legal interpretation and advice relevant to any identified risks
- Perform assessments of NAB controls to determine effectiveness, and reassess in the event of internal or external changes to identified risks and assist in the development of corrective action plans
- Identify areas for process improvement across all aspects of global privacy compliance
- Identify and interpret domestic and international trends in privacy, including legislation, regulators, banking, compliance and operations, and translate these trends into meaningful and relevant risks or opportunities for NAB
Skills and Experience Required: Experience
- 5+ Years of professional privacy experience
- Experience in a highly regulated environment (financial services preferred)
- Experience advising business stakeholders on privacy-by-design/privacy compliance topics
Essential capabilities
- Strong privacy expertise with a firm understanding of Australian privacy law (knowledge of additional regulatory jurisdictions a plus)
- Ability to identify and rationalize the data privacy requirements across multiple jurisdictions
- Strong analytical capability, with close attention to detail
- Team player and proven ability to collaborate and achieve effective outcomes
- Pro-active approach to problem-solving
- Influencing and partnering skills with ability to drive enterprise outcomes on fixed timelines
- Knowledge of Data Governance and Frameworks
- Ability to draft and/or edit specialist data-related processes and guidance
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to distil complex concepts and data into a form that is easily communicated and understood
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Other capabilities
- Understanding of Data Management, Security and Controls and Risk Management
- Understanding of regulatory requirements - guides and standards
Qualification Requirements
- Degree qualified
- Privacy qualifications such as CIPM, CIPP, CIPT (would be great to have, but not required)
