The Role: Director - IMPG Data Operations Solutions

The Location: Beijing, China

The Team: The role will sit on the Data Operations Solutions team within IMPG (Index Management and Production Group). The team functions as a Product Owner in the IT Agile Framework and handles the coordination of all projects on IMPG owned technology platforms for index calculation, announcements, re balancing, and committees. The team is involved in the prioritization of release items, supplying the business requirements for those items, user acceptance testing for each release, and training for IMPG. The team is also focused on producing and validating automated solutions for IMPG.

The Impact: The Agile Product Owner works with other groups within IMPG (Index Maintenance and Production Group) to improve existing procedures and to provide project vision and task prioritization for our internal IT platforms. This includes understanding business processes, writing user stories, grooming product backlog, and user acceptance testing on both BAU improvements and funded projects. This person should be an expert on building the maximal business values. This person will be looked upon to work with representatives of the business, operations, and technology to assure that productionized calculation and rebalance models are sound for production.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide a clear vision that the team can execute against and the partners can fully understand
  • Work with other groups within IMPG (Index Management, Market Management, Index Development) to develop requirements in the user story format for new improvements to our internal systems.
  • Collaborate with developers and IT QA teams to ensure that they understand the business requirements
  • Participate in the discussion with IT to resolve the best technical solutions with limited resources and timeframe
  • Assist technology development with the implementation of improvements and bug fixes through the regular attendance of meetings and supply of requested materials.
  • Understand the market, the customer and the business in order to make sound decisions
  • Settle a detailed list of scenarios to be taken into account for coding and testing.
  • Prepare test cases and handle business testers for user acceptance testing across all platforms on which IMPG are the main users.
  • Coordinate with QA to make sure all necessary steps have been taken during testing.
  • Build training material and assist training sessions
  • Provide post-production support for the users
  • Assist in the construction of calculation and rebalance models by utilizing Python or other means for automation.
  • Collaborate with IMPG on process improvement opportunities within our index management and market management teams that may exist outside of our main platforms.
  • Assure that any solutions built for the business meet all regulatory and audit requirements.

What We're Looking For:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication with partners with diverse backgrounds and demands
  • Hands-on experience with collaborating with the development team and QA team
  • Strong experience with user acceptance testing, including writing test cases
  • Experience with system user training, including writing QRG
  • Understanding of equity and fixed income markets.
  • Bachelor's Degree. Advanced degree in computer science, math, economics, or finance strongly preferred.
  • Superior skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
  • Ability to program in Python & VBA
  • Must be able to work independently on multiple projects with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities to tackle creative, non-routine problems in a timely and insightful manner
  • Ability to learn S&P's proprietary index calculation engines.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, work with others and handle projects
  • Ability to learn new data and calculation platforms in a limited time
  • Deep understanding of complex financial/indexing concepts

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PMI-ACP or CSPO is a plus
  • Ability to program in VBA & Python preferred.
  • Ability to learn S&P's proprietary index calculation engines.
  • Advanced degree in computer science, math, economics, or finance strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of equity and fixed income markets.
