About your team

Finance Services supports Financial Services, Group and some parts of Eight Roads and Canada businesses. It also includes centralized functions performed for FIL as a whole. Core activities for Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Control and Procure to Pay are centralized with an aspiration to accelerate finance for future.

About your role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Japanese-speaking finance professional to join our Global Capability Hub (GCH), supporting our Japanese business while gaining significantly broader exposure across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and our global organisation.

Fluency in Mandarin, Japanese and English is an essential requirement for the role, enabling the successful candidate to build strong relationships with Japanese stakeholders and act as an important connection between the Global Capability Hub and our business in Japan.

The role provides a unique opportunity to develop experience beyond a single market. Based within the GCH in Dalian, you will work closely with stakeholders across Japan and the wider APAC region, as well as partnering with colleagues and senior stakeholders globally. This provides excellent exposure to different markets, regulatory environments, business models, products and ways of working.

The role is centred around providing subject-matter expertise across the billing and revenue process, combining finance, accounting, reporting, data and systems knowledge with a strong focus on transformation and continuous improvement. You will have exposure to customer billing KPIs, revenue processes, stakeholder management and the ongoing development and simplification of our finance processes.

Key Responsibilities

The roles and responsibilities will be as follows:

Process Key Results Area:
  • Act as a key Japanese-speaking finance contact, partnering with stakeholders in Japan and providing an effective link between the Japanese business, the Global Capability Hub and the wider global Finance organisation.
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders across Japan, APAC and global teams, building an understanding of different market requirements while supporting greater consistency in global processes.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise across the billing and revenue accounting lifecycle, ensuring accurate, timely and complete financial information.
  • Ensure accurate interfaces of revenue information into Finance Data Warehouse systems and perform revenue reconciliations to support completeness of the financial books and records.
  • Perform and review customer billing and revenue accounting processes for the institutional business, ensuring appropriate controls and service standards are maintained.
  • Liaise with upstream teams to identify and resolve data and information gaps and continually improve the quality of revenue recording and reporting.
  • Partner with onboarding, sales, client service and relationship teams to understand client fee arrangements and ensure they are accurately reflected within billing and revenue processes.
  • Produce and distribute monthly invoices and relevant dashboards in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements and stakeholder requirements.
  • Perform month-end accruals and reconciliations and provide high-quality revenue reporting, analysis and insight to business and Finance stakeholders.
  • Support financial audits, control reviews and implementation of audit recommendations, strengthening the overall risk and control environment.
  • Support new products, propositions and market requirements, ensuring Finance and billing processes can respond effectively to changing business needs across APAC.
  • Identify opportunities for process simplification, standardisation, automation and transformation, leveraging the scale and capabilities of the Global Capability Hub.
  • Resolve complex or escalated operational issues, coordinating effectively across functions, markets and time zones.
  • Contribute to the continued development of the Global Capability Hub as a centre of expertise, sharing knowledge and best practice across Japan, APAC and the wider global organisation.
  • Support the broader CFO transformation agenda, helping deliver improved controls, data quality, efficiency, scalability and stakeholder outcomes.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable policies and reviews contracts to ensure revenue is recorded as per company standards and guidelines
  • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments
  • Enhancing the risk and control framework supporting the process

Change Management:
  • Impact assessment and support on various change projects - Process specific & wider organisational projects
  • Regular connect with various upstream and downstream system/technology teams to communicate ongoing changes and supporting end to end automation
  • Usage of data visualisation tools, data analytics and other statistical techniques to solve real time business problems
  • Generate efficiency and drive synergies across billing, revenue and sales and assets function
  • Drive changes in procedures, re-define responsibilities and Key Results Areas to align with the new process definitions


About you

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Qualified CA or equivalent/ MBA Finance with upto 10 years of relevant work experience in Finance with exposure to accounting, data analytics and reporting.
  • Understanding of revenue accounting and its downstream impact on distribution and IM business finance teams
  • Possess understanding of revenue solution and programme
  • Prior experience in FP&A, Finance control, O2C and AR roles would be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills including knowledge of accounting principles
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office software packages; Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau will be an advantage
  • Shows attention to detail and an appetite to dive into issues in depth as needed
  • Collaborative approach to develop, share, accept and implementation of ideas
  • Identify opportunities & implement solutions to improve process
