Credit Analyst

Job Overview/Purpose

Reporting to both Head of International Desk (China) and Chief Risk Officer(China), this is a client facing role with shared accountability of assigned client portfolio and as a key contributor to strengthen the risk accountability in the 1st line of defence. Additionally, this role needs to complete all regulators required reports verbally & in writing (not reporting nor number counting),but be able to apply credit skills to answer/analyze all credit risk related enquiries (from 2nd line risk of defence point of view) on counterparty & portfolio credit risk trends, concerns, portfolio analysis, lessons learned, self-inspections, onsite visit interviews etc.

Context of Job

The Account Manager supports Global Corporate Clients in achieving its strategic objectives by:

* Identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring and reporting risks that may incur in the business;

* Ensuring the risk profile complies with risk policies, standards and guidelines;

* Promoting a strong risk culture within business;

* Identifying and assessing risks with a forward looking view;

* Managing risk by preventing further damage;

* Implementing effective risk control in accordance with the Bank's framework;

* Supporting transaction execution

Job Requirements

Credit & Risk Management

* Prepare part of credit application, annual review and solicit approvals in situations of facility increase, exception/deviation request, changes in T/S, non-compliance of covenants, negative development etc

* Responsible for credit risk assessment and modelling, including financial spreading, rating, loan classification, LEA, default trigger and projection

* Work closely with country or regional credit committee(s) to clarify credit application enquiries, and to respond to action points requested by relevant committee(s) wherever necessary

* Responsible for control activities, including collateral management and report, maintain credit-risk related data quality and closely monitor loan classification

* Conduct timely escalation of any negative development or red flags based on credit risk position and adverse changing market conditions

* Assist in portfolio review, regular or ad hoc projects in relation to account and portfolio monitoring

* Responsible for all regulators required reports verbally & in writing. Apply credit skills to answer/analyze all credit risk related enquiries (from 2nd line risk of defence point of view) on counterparty & portfolio credit risk trends, concerns, portfolio analysis, lessons learned, self-inspections, onsite visit interviews etc.

Business In-Control

* To participate in In-Control meeting and to monitor, administer and report operational risk incidents

* Provide input for regulatory returns

* Be responsible for credit related data/limit input and monitoring of Loan Classification

* Act as contact point for auditors for all credit and risk related matters

Client Service

* Participate in deal team to support full transaction execution

* Maintain constant dialogues with internal stakeholders to keep abreast of market intelligence, procedures, policies and strategies

Key Relationships: (Key internal and external contacts e.g. clients, suppliers, internal teams)

  • Relationship Managers, product champions, and deal team members
  • Core clients and prospects
  • Relevant Risk Management stakeholders including Senior Risk Officer
  • External advisors such as law firms, accounting firms and consultants
  • Other relevant internal and external stakeholders

Job Skills and Knowledge:
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in wholesale client servicing environment with solid background in credit and risk
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in assessing complex financial transactions such as acquisition, leverage financing, project financing, receivable purchase or securitized deals
  • Experience in risk analysis of large corporates, particularly operating in the food and agriculture sector
  • Good communication skills, and able to maintain dialogue with senior clients
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Languages: English and Mandarin (both spoken and written)
  • Strong drive to acquire in-depth knowledge of credit aspects and industries
  • Critical approach towards own production
