Market Data Service Manager
Responsible for managing a subset of the Market Data internal clients and external vendors globally

Your role will be to lead all commercial Market Data activity for FMC, with additional responsibility for service delivery into global suppliers, Market Data governance, and financial administration. This includes developing and driving strategic capability for China Business working with the global team and the Market Data Director.

The scope of suppliers & products covers Market Data Terminals, Indices, Reference, Pricing & Exchange data, Ratings, Research and Risk & Attribution services from hundreds of Market Data suppliers.

Your ability to establish trusted relationships with key business clients, lead and manage the team in a structured way, to drive change, prioritise delivery and challenge existing processes will be the key to your success.

  • Responsible for managing a subset of the Market Data internal clients and external vendors globally
  • Own the business relationship across multiple business teams in FMC
  • Lead on any market data projects within FMC, including terminal displacements and other efficiency aligned work
  • Provide input into strategic direction and goals for the Market Data team globally
  • Alignment and development of global operating model driving consistency of service and approach
  • Vendor and cost tracking & management for 3rd party services provide in FMC
  • Deep dive analysis of client and vendor data across multiple formats for presentation and MI reporting
  • Management, creation and production of management information detailing business requirements and variance reports
  • Contribute to regular budgeting and forecasting processes

Skills and experience:
  • Leadership skills - Although an individual contributor in FMC, the ability to leverage capability across the global team, as well as with other local/regional teams will be key to being successful
  • Working with senior business clients to discuss strategy, present detailed market data cost breakdowns and to understand their requirements; your ability to build and maintain relationships will be important
  • Supplier management - experience of managing and measuring supplier performance, and managing issues and escalations with suppliers
  • Supplier negotiation experience - the ability to structure a negotiation, create leverage, and form strategic relationships with suppliers
  • Experience of Market Data administration - platforms (MDM from MDSL used at company globally), inventories, exchange rules and reporting, invoicing, reconciliation and financial chargeback would be advantageous
  • Excellent data skills - the ability to review, analyze, and draw meaning from data and then communicate that with others is important - be it financial reporting, quickly analyzing supplier supplied information again inventory etc. - analytical skills are a requirement
  • Good documentation skills, including writing policies and procedures
  • Reporting and Dash boards (Excel, Power Bi, Tableau etc.)
  • Motivated, with a positive (can-do) and enthusiastic attitude
  • Diligent, thorough and professional
  • Ability to cope with demanding schedules and pressured deadlines
  • Must thrive in a rapidly changing and expanding environment
Desirable skills/qualifications:
  • Relevant professional qualifications a benefit
  • Educated to degree level preferably with a STEM background
  • Experience with relevant market data technologies would be an advantage - TREP/RMDS, and desktop platforms such as Eikon, Bloomberg, FactSet, Wind, FinChina,Gildata and their relevant data model and entitlement system or process
  • preferred the experience with local exchanges, OTC market, clearing houses and the data specification accordingly
  • Process Management and techniques (Six Sigma etc.) would be of benefit

  • Must be structured in approach to planning, tracking work, and managing work across a team
  • Delivery focused with a get things done attitude
  • Service management - ITIL - experience of structured approaches to service delivery and a good understand of the need to be able to manage, track and report the delivery of work from clients into a team
  • Ability to thrive in a technology driven, rapidly changing and expanding environment
  • A desire to do things the right way, whilst remaining focused on team and business objectives
