The Position
The Client Group in China has an opening for an Apprenticeship position in the financial intermediary channel, to support our sales and market efforts. The financial intermediary team is responsible for Wellington Management's relationships and activity with strategic clients, wealth management groups, family offices, endowments and fund of funds. The team collaborates closely with clients on broad investment, sales and marketing initiatives. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for supporting and strengthening our relationships with intermediary clients and prospects.

The role is anticipated to be between 2-3 days a week (depending on the availability of the candidate) for a duration of 3-6 months, with an option to extend for a further 6 months.
Responsibilities
Principal responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing standard and/or customized prospect presentation materials, briefing books and collateral materials as well as meeting notes required for external meetings.
  • Reviewing materials that have been translated from English to ensure the accuracy of the messaging remains intact and work closely with members of the Global Wealth Management, Marketing, and reporting teams.
  • Participating in in-house client and prospect meetings and conference calls (as appropriate);
  • Conducting analysis, initiating investigations and responding to internal and external ad-hoc inquiries on a wide variety of topics, including portfolio and product specific information, investment guidelines, market trends, regulation considerations and fees.
  • Acting as a point of contact for various groups within client organizations;
  • Coordinating key client communications.
  • Supporting the local GWM Business Development Manager in the organization of client roadshows and meetings.
  • Developing an understanding of the depth and breadth of Wellington Management's investment approaches.
Qualifications
We seek a team player who has strong analytical skills, is an independent self-starter, able to multi-task, and complete high-quality work. A keen ability to pay attention to detail is a must for this position. Excellent communication, writing and Excel skills are required. A demonstrated interest in the investment management industry is also desired.

The following will be viewed favorably:
  • Excellent academic record, including relevant coursework in finance, business, and/or economics
  • Prior work experience in a financial or other client-oriented team role, and comfort working in a fast-paced organization with high professional standards
  • The ability to work in a detail-oriented, deadline-driven role
  • Good English language skills (written and spoken)
