About the Role
The successful candidate will act as the internal legal point person on special situations matters across the platform's investment portfolio. Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Supporting live workouts, restructurings, and stressed situations across the portfolio
- Advising on distressed credit positions, enforcement actions, and intercreditor dynamics
- Managing contentious insolvency matters, scheme sanction hearings, and cross-border proceedings
- Structuring debt-for-equity swaps, rescue financings, and other resolution outcomes
- Coordinating external counsel across HK, Cayman, BVI, PRC, and US jurisdictions
You will work closely with the investment teams and report into a senior in-house lawyer, with real exposure and ownership from an early stage.
What We Are Looking For
- 3 to 5 PQE at a top international or magic circle firm, with a core focus on restructuring and insolvency, contentious insolvency, or special situations
- Trained in a leading R&I or contentious practice
- Exposure to cross-border restructurings, schemes of arrangement, and complex creditor or sponsor dynamics
- Hong Kong qualified preferred; other common law qualifications considered for the right candidate
- Mandarin working proficiency preferred given the nature of the portfolio
- Commercial mindset, intellectual curiosity, and comfort in a small, senior team
Why Consider This Role
Most in-house moves at this PQE take restructuring lawyers away from restructuring, into generalist corporate, funds, or transactional seats. This role is deliberately designed to keep you in the technical heart of what you already do, with the added benefit of principal-side decision-making, direct commercial input, and a long-term career trajectory in-house.
