We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a
Head of Wholesale Operations - Singapore. Principal Responsibilities Wholesale Operations offers our employees a fast paced, dynamic working environment with exposure to a wide network of stakeholders such as Commercial Banking (CMB) and Global Banking and Markets, in around 60 countries and territories around the world. Our services are diverse consisting of:
- Credit Services and Collateral Management Utility
- Wholesale Client and Account Servicing
- Wholesale Channels and Client Management Operations
- Global Trade and Receivables Finance
- Client Lifecycle Management (KYC Operations)
- Oversight of Utility services provided by Global Operations to WSB in market
- To directly lead the Wholesale Operations teams in country and within the supporting Global Service Centres (GSCs) to deliver an agreed set of business objectives, enable business growth and manage the Annual Operating Plan through the delivery of strategic initiatives and continuous improvements aligned to our Bank wide Operations Transformation (BWOT) Programme
- To proactively manage the Country Wholesale Commercial Banking (CMB) and Global Banking and Markets (GBM) stakeholder relationships and act as the primary point of contact to Business stakeholders
- Maintain control and governance of Audit, Assurance and Management Self-Identified Issue (MSII) outcomes and clearance within timelines. Drive improvements in the control environment and deliver the local War on Manual Controls
- The role will drive operational excellence in country to align Wholesale Operations to the strategy of Global Wholesale Operations and the CMB and GBM Businesses:
- Implement the Global Wholesale Operations operating model in the market and ensure it is aligned to Business demands and requirements
- Drive streamlining and transformation while managing a robust control environment across all services within the market
- Lead all governance activities within the market and act as a key representative in joint business forums
- Manage and supervise KRIs and KPIs, Book of Work completion (new and existing to bank) volumes and incoming demand to generate and implement the strategies necessary to achieve improvements in performance, productivity, and process quality
- Operational improvements through best-in-class processes, unit processing times and leveraging digital solutions
- Lead people and engagement initiatives, deliver talent reviews, succession plans, deploy BWOT work streams and govern annual performance management
- Execute people strategies to drive skills for the future and drive retention of critical skill sets
- The role will consequently drive Improvements in the overall experience delivered to the customers of our CMB and GBM Businesses
- Delivery of service to agreed levels of performance
- Delivery of significant sustainable operational cost savings, improved operational efficiency and improvements in managing operational risk
- Delivery of DBS Operations capabilities in a professional and commercial manner
Requirements
Academic qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree or demonstration of relevant industry experience
- AML qualification
- Operations is a global team supporting a number of markets, the ability to converse fluently in more than one language is desirable, English being essential
- Experience working in or with the Commercial Banking, Global Banking and Markets areas of financial services.
- Prior experience of courageous leadership in a dynamic and challenging economic and regulatory environment across operational teams spanning multiple locations.
- Experience working in the Operations division of a large-scale financial services company
- Excellent relationship management and influencing skills
- Ability to analyse complex issues, identify and assess the implications for the market and its customers
- Excellent planning, organizing and commercial skills including strong financial management capability
- Advanced data and financial experience with very good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and strong attention to detail
- Strong leader / positive role model
- The ability to communicate complex issues concisely, being seen as a subject matter expert by business stakeholders
- Ability to manage and mitigate operational risk effectively
- Well-developed project management skills
- Confidence to work with senior leaders across the organization, including front and middle office
