Revenue Controller

If so, we may have the role for you. Hiscox are recruiting for a Revenue Controller to focus on managing key accounts in the UK, in the main for binding authority agents. You will focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with our Brokers, as well as the day to day reconciliation of cash received to a number of binding authority accounts.

You'll need a "whatever it takes" attitude and will suit someone who is excited by rolling their sleeves up and building strength within the team. You will then have the energy and enthusiasm to maintain high quality delivery and service in a BAU environment.


What you'll be doing

  • Manage a portfolio of key Brokers/Managing General Agents to resolve cash flow issues arising from written and paid premium bordereaux processing and settlement;

  • Building robust relationships with your key accounts, including visits to build plans that work for both parties;

  • Provide recommendation to the Credit Control Team Leader and the Area Manager on the best and most pragmatic action plans to reach resolution of issues;

  • Provide recommendations to the wider Credit Control team on focus areas for the team and work with the Credit Control Team Leader to make these happen;

  • Production of reconciled binding authority accounts to enable allocation of cash received against booked debt ahead of month end system closedown;

  • Preparation of pre and post month end performance reporting;

  • Preparation of monthly focused tasks for credit control team. Support the preparation of the monthly debtor packs ahead of internal business unit, underwriter and management meetings;

  • Maintain and develop pre-defined agent and cover holder scorecards, used by the business to assess credit risk;

  • Obtain regular analysis of broker financial accounts, record data received from providers and manage the payment process for the resource within budget;

  • Support the wider Credit Control team with queries and represent Credit Control as an expert to the business.

  • Work alongside with the Regions, making sure that the regional overdue debt is align with the strategy of the company.

This role can be based in either Colchester or London and will involve up to 50% travel to regional offices/broker meetings as required

Our must haves

  • Educated to at least A Level standard with previous experience on a similar role;
  • Good computer literacy, including intermediate/Advanced Excel and PowerPoint;
  • A positive can-do attitude to work, results driven, with the energy and determination to succeed in a very fast paced environment where the pace and quality of response are critical to success;
  • Pragmatic in decision making and action plans, human in delivering them, with experience in commercial negotiations;
  • Strong attention to detail in producing high quality output and maintains this when under pressure;
  • Ability to prioritise workload in order to meet tight deadlines, with previous experience of multi-tasking to achieve multiple deliverables;
  • Confidence to work unsupervised and as part of a team to achieve personal and team objectives;
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence to build good working relationships at all levels, and ask questions to ensure requirements and rationale are understood.

Our nice to haves

  • Previous experience in a busy Insurance Operations environment, ideally with Lloyd's background;
  • Previous experience with AS400, Cognos or Magic.
