Job Description

This newly created role sits at the core of Visa's European Communications team, responsible for shaping Visa's corporate storytelling, thought leadership and executive positioning in Europe, working closely with Product, B2B, Brand and in market communications teams to ensure corporate storytelling is aligned with and reinforces broader business priorities.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Executive Communications, the Editorial Director serves as the strategic storytelling lead for Visa Europe. The Director is responsible for developing the themes, narratives and points of view that underpin executive visibility, CEO communications, major leadership moments, thought leadership platforms, strategic announcements and high-profile external engagements, including the speechwriting, copy-writing, social post writing/editing and memo/briefing preparation that support those moments.

Working closely with senior leaders and Communications teams across Europe, the role will help ensure Visa's most important stories are clear, differentiated and consistently expressed across markets, audiences and channels.

The Editorial Director acts as the connective tissue between executive communications, corporate positioning and broader communications activity. While many communications roles focus on a particular audience, channel or programme, this role provides the overarching narrative lens, helping leaders communicate with greater clarity, influence and strategic impact.

The successful candidate will identify emerging themes, shape how Visa responds to opportunities in the market and ensure individual campaigns, announcements and executive engagements contribute to a broader, coherent story about Visa's role in the future of commerce and payments.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Storytelling & Leadership Narrative
  • Lead the development of the strategic narratives that underpin Visa Europe's CEO and executive communications.
  • Shape the themes, storylines and messaging frameworks used across high-profile leadership moments, industry engagements, thought leadership initiatives and strategic announcements.
  • Support the development of speeches, scripts, talking points, social posts, memos and briefing materials that bring these leadership moments to life.
  • Partner with Communications leads to ensure leadership visibility programmes are anchored in a clear and consistent narrative.
  • Advise on executive positioning, helping leaders articulate Visa's vision, strategy, innovation agenda and market perspective with clarity and impact.
  • Identify opportunities to elevate Visa's voice through distinctive points of view, leadership platforms and storytelling opportunities.
  • Help ensure executive communications reinforce a coherent narrative across audiences, markets and channels.

Corporate Narrative & Strategic Positioning
  • Own the development and evolution of Visa Europe's corporate narrative.
  • Translate business strategy, client impact, innovation and market developments into compelling narrative frameworks.
  • Identify emerging themes, strategic opportunities and areas where Visa can strengthen its positioning and thought leadership.
  • Help connect individual initiatives, announcements and programmes into a broader and more differentiated Visa story.
  • Provide narrative counsel to Communications leaders and business stakeholders across the region, including guidance on writing, editing and message development.

Communications Integration & Strategic Counsel
  • Ensure campaigns, announcements, executive engagement and thought leadership programmes support Visa's broader reputation and business objectives.
  • Provide narrative guidance during communications planning and campaign development.
  • Identify opportunities to amplify impact through stronger storytelling and alignment across communications disciplines.
  • Support the development of integrated communications strategies for major corporate moments and business priorities.
  • Help ensure the written materials supporting those moments are clear, consistent and fit for purpose across internal, external and social channels.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on communicator who combines strategic thinking with execution.
  • Experience using sound judgement in a dynamic, regulated environment.
  • Exceptional storytelling and narrative development skills.
  • Strong speechwriting, writing, copy-writing, social post creation and memo/briefing writing experience.
  • Proven experience supporting senior executives and leadership visibility programmes.
  • Strong understanding of corporate reputation, thought leadership and executive positioning.
  • Ability to translate complex business, policy and technology topics into clear and compelling narratives.
  • Strong track record of successful delivery in matrixed organization.
