About Northern Trust

As a global leader in innovative wealth management, asset servicing, asset management and banking services, Northern Trust (Nasdaq: NTRS) is proud to guide the world's most successful individuals, families, corporations and institutions.

Since 1889, we have aligned our efforts with our three guiding Principles That Endure: Service, Expertise, and Integrity. Together, they reflect the three cornerstones of business conduct which we strive to instill in our employees, whom we call partners, and to provide to our clients and the communities we serve worldwide.

With more than 135 years of financial experience and over 24,000 partners, we serve the world's most sophisticated clients using leading technology and exceptional service.

Role / Department

The RFP Writer will support the preparation and delivery of high-quality RFPs (Requests for Proposal), RFIs (Requests for Information), DDQs (Due Diligence Questionnaires), and other client and prospect-facing submissions.

Working closely with Sales, Product, Relationship Management, Operations and subject matter experts, the role will involve gathering information, developing clear and compelling written responses, and helping to ensure submissions are accurate, consistent and delivered on time.

This role would suit someone with strong writing and communication skills, good attention to detail and the ability to build relationships and collaborate with different stakeholders. Previous RFP or proposal-writing experience is not essential, and there will be an opportunity to build knowledge and experience within the role.

We are particularly interested in someone who is curious about technology and comfortable using AI-enabled tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to support research, writing, productivity and content development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the preparation and coordination of RFPs, RFIs, DDQs and other client and prospect-facing submissions.
  • Review client questions and requirements and help develop clear, accurate and engaging written responses.
  • Work with colleagues across Sales, Product, Relationship Management, Operations and other teams to gather the information required for proposals.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Help coordinate deadlines and ensure proposal activities remain on track.
  • Review written content for accuracy, consistency, grammar and attention to detail.
  • Maintain and update proposal content libraries and knowledge resources.
  • Develop an understanding of the business, its products and services to continually improve the quality of written responses.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance the efficiency and quality of proposal development.
  • Use emerging technology and AI-enabled tools to support research, drafting, content development and knowledge management.
  • Collaborate with and support other members of the team as required.

Skills / Qualifications

The successful candidate will benefit from having:
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to communicate information clearly, accurately and professionally.
  • An interest in writing, research, communications, proposals or content development.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build rapport and develop relationships with different stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to work with colleagues across different teams and areas of the business.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good comprehension and analytical skills, with the ability to understand information and translate it into clear written content.
  • An interest in financial services and a willingness to develop industry knowledge. Previous financial services experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • An interest in emerging technology and using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to support research, writing and productivity.
  • A proactive approach, curiosity and a willingness to learn and develop.
