Role Description

Internal Audit (IA) serves as an independent assurance and advisory function at BlackRock that enhances and protects organizational value by providing risk based and objective assessment, advice, and insight. Our team is global, and our mandate is to objectively assess the adequacy and effectiveness of BlackRock's internal control environment to improve risk management, control, and governance processes. To maintain independence, IA reports directly to the Audit Committee of the BlackRock Inc. Board of Directors and administratively to the President of BlackRock, Inc.

SAO
Within IA, the Strategy, Analytics and Operations team (SAO) is responsible for platform operations and analytics, strategic initiatives, board reporting, audit methodology and quality assurance, as well as talent development and training for the group. This role will be focused primarily on our Quality Assurance (QA) program and methodology.

Role Description

The QA Associate's primary responsibilities will be coordinating and executing independent testing to assess adequacy of the audit process and adherence to IA methodology and framework. The QA Associate will be involved in the development of enhanced QA programs, and ongoing training programs and methodology initiatives for IA. Given how dynamic and fast growing the audit team is, this person will thrive in environment of rapid change, aspire for excellence, be enthusiastic about sharing ideas for improvements and be a self-starter. Superior verbal and written communications and the ability to foster strong relationships is critical.

The QA Associate will have the following responsibilities:
  • Timely and accurate completion of QA testing across point-in-time audits, Audit Issues and Audit Action Verification, Risk Assessments, and Targeted topics
  • Periodic refresh and development of QA testing programs
  • Ongoing and ad hoc analysis and reporting (e.g., QA results and themes)
  • Contribute to the development of audit methodology enhancements
  • Contribute to the development of training and best practices for the Global IA Team
  • Deliver training to audit teams as needed
  • Participate in processes for onboarding new hires
  • Provide methodology guidance and support to Audit team, as needed
  • Lead process improvement projects, as needed
  • Involvement in other ad hoc departmental initiatives, as needed


Skills/Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, or business management is preferred. BA/BS, or equivalent is required.
  • A strong understanding of risk and audit methodology developed through at least 3-5 years of prior experience in internal audit and/or audit quality assurance is required
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, listening) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to synthesize and articulate complex ideas with intellectual curiosity and healthy skepticism
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; accuracy and attention to detail
  • Impactful project management and presentation (in person and virtual) skills
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to develop and maintain effective and inclusive working relationships with IA team
  • Familiarity with Excel, Tableau, Archer and AuditBoard preferred
  • Proficient understanding of current regulatory and industry events impacting global financial services
  • Relevant professional certifications are a plus (e.g., CIA, CFSA, CISA, CPA)



For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $109,250 - $130,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
