Robert Half Financial Services are currently recruiting for a Fund Controller role, at a global Investment firm based in downtown Manhattan New York. Our client requires a 10+ years’ in Fund Accounting with some Public Audit experience covering Investment Management clients. Knowledge of Mutual Funds, UCITS and a CPA is highly desirable. The role is hybrid remote and requires 3 days per week in the downtown office.
The Fund Controller is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting/analysis and tax reporting functions for the US mutual funds, Luxembourg UCITS funds and Collective Investment Trusts. This individual also manages and reports on profitability metrics of the Funds and the registered investment adviser, accounting policies of the Funds and monitors adherence to portfolio valuation policies. The individual is key to the Sarbanes-Oxley protocol for the US mutual funds and the related certifications provided to the SEC. The individual functionally supports the Investment Management business line and the various risk and management groups established to oversee the Fund products. The individual has relationships with the Investment Management front office, product/portfolio managers and their teams, the corporate accounting function, Compliance, Risk, OGC; external relationships with audit firms, outsourced service providers, independent trustees and directors and certain team members of third party subadvisers.
Responsibilities:
- Coverage of 80+ Funds, primarily Mutual Funds
- Manage audits of 12+ entities with two audit firms
- Manage the annual and semiannual financial statement generation and production processes for the Funds
- Manage the tax status of the Funds, including annual production of tax estimates, tax reporting and the review and approval of tax returns for the Funds
- Develop and implement accounting policy for the Funds
- Manage the specialized accounting and financial reporting for US mutual funds and UCITS funds, including certain regulatory reporting to the SEC and the CSSF in Luxembourg and the US Department of Labor, if required
- Provide input to, support and attend Board meetings for the US mutual funds and the Luxembourg UCITS funds, including the respective Audit and Valuation Committees
- Provide detailed reporting to the US mutual fund board in support of the annual approval of the investment advisory contract (aka 15c reporting)
- Develop and provide financial reporting for the registered investment adviser
- Contribute to creating policies and procedures for compliance with SEC and CSSF Rules and Regulations
- Contribute to the structuring of new funds and new fund products
- Manage the accounting and financial reporting requirements of new and liquidating funds
- Create and present financial metrics for the Funds and other ad hoc financial analysis
- Supervise staff responsible for overseeing outsourced service providers for the Funds
- Review and approve expense accruals and payments for the Funds, including investment advisory fees and 12b1 fees and firm expenses related to the Funds
- Manage staff responsible for calculation/review of NAV’s and other specialized mutual fund reporting
- Maintain departmental procedures related to accounting, reporting and service provider oversight functions related to the Funds
- Manage a staff of 2, responsible for their professional development, staff goal setting and execution of tasks
Requirements:
- 10+ years’ in Fund Accounting with some Public Audit experience covering Investment Management clients
- Knowledge of Mutual Funds, UCITS and a CPA is highly desirable
- Bachelor/Master degree in Accounting
