Senior Singapore banker leaves UOB to rejoin DBS in top job
Alvin Wong, an experienced structured finance originator and financial institutions coverage banker, has left UOB and rejoined his former firm, DBS.
Wong moved to DBS earlier this month as an executive director and head of non-bank financial services, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has business responsibilities over consumer finance, leasing, card companies, payment service providers, and structured finance opportunities such as mortgage-backed securities and asset-backed securities.
He spent almost five years at UOB, latterly at director level. Prior to that he did a 10-year stint at DBS, most recently as a senior vice president in structured debt solutions.
Wong has a degree in electrical engineering from the National University of Singapore and spent the first three years of his career as a project engineer at DSO National Laboratories.
In 2005, he shifted to the banking sector as a management associate at Standard Chartered.
