Citi hired a Credit Suisse data guy who left in 2024 and made him MD

As we have noted, Citi is now at least 90% of the way through the work associated with its 2020 regulatory consent order. In possibly related or possibly unrelated developments, Citi has been cutting people in its data teams. But in London, Citi has made a large hire with a data history.

This large hire is Lee Ellmore, a man with nearly three decades of operations and data expertise, who was last seen at Credit Suisse, which he left in June 2024 according to the FCA Register and his own LinkedIn profile.

Neither Ellmore nor Citi responded to a request to comment for this article, but Ellmore's LinkedIn profile says he's now joining the leadership team for Citi's London markets operations team in a hybrid capacity as an MD. We know no more.

During his long years at Credit Suisse, Ellmore was everything from global head of cash equities middle office to global head of strategic change (including prime) to global head of data, to chief data officer. He knows his stuff.

It's not clear what he's been doing for the past two years. If Ellmore's able to hire at Citi, he possibly has a lot of ex-colleagues who might be interested in finding jobs there too.
