Citi's longserving head of fintech banking in EMEA resigned

As we have reported often, Citi has been hiring senior bankers. But it has also been losing senior bankers, often to JPMorgan.

Mark Tweedie, a senior banker at Citi is understood to have resigned. We do not know where he is going, but maybe it is to JPMorgan too.

Tweedie was Citi's head of fintech banking for EMEA, based out of London. He joined the bank in 1999 and he had worked there for nearly 28 years. It is conceivable that he is simply retiring.

Tweedie declined to comment on his whereabouts. Citi declined to comment on what Tweedie is doing.

Fortunately, Citi has amassed a deep bench of technology bankers who can help fill Tweedie's experienced shoes. They include Amit Nayyar who was previously head of fintech banking at JPMorgan and who joined Citi last year. At the time, we thought Nayyar would be Tweedie's co-head and wondered how Tweedie might feel about sharing his job. In fact, Nayyar was given a bigger role as co-head of all EMEA technology investment banking and so was presumably Tweedie's boss.
