Deutsche has, for example, hired Puneet Agarwal, who spent 14 years at Goldman working a hybrid role involving the investment bank, engineering and macro strategy. Agarwal left his job as a Goldman MD in June 2022, and has spent the past four years running a fintech. Now he's back, and he is Deutsche Bank's US head of macro structuring.
Deutsche has also made a hire directly from Goldman. The German bank poached Luke Merrill, a vice president on Goldman's CLO trading desk for a role in US CLO trading. Merrill, who is understood to be aged only 28, will be reporting to Matthew Matson. Matson is a Deutsche Bank MD and head of leveraged loan trading.
Matson once worked for Mizuho.
