Morgan Stanley's ex-co-head of European credit trading is joining a hedge fund
As we reported earlier this year, Morgan Stanley has had various losses from its London credit trading team. They include Gareth John, who was co-head of European credit trading at the bank when he left in March 2023. Two and a half years later, John is back - at hedge fund Point72.

John didn't respond to a request to comment for this article and his new role has not been confirmed by the fund, but it's understood that John is joining Point72 in London to run a new European high yield trading strategy. Point72's UK operation is thought to have previously focused on investment grade trades.
His arrival comes as European high yield traders are hot property at both banks and hedge funds. Even Vanguard, which is better known for its passive funds, is setting up a new European high yield business under Nick Bowles, a former trader from Credit Suisse.
John spent nearly 14 years at Morgan Stanley.
